Additional Pet Care Services

Medical and Surgical Services

Dental

A preventable and common cause of pets not living their full life expectancy is dental disease. For this reason, we maintain a strong focus on dental care including fillings, extractions and root canal therapy.

We have dental X-ray capabilities to evaluate tooth roots. This is invaluable in identifying painful teeth that may look normal on the surface but are causing your pet to suffer.

Dermatology

In the hot, sticky Sydney climate, many pets suffer from skin disease. Whether it be allergies or parasites we can offer a comprehensive diagnostic including allergy vaccinations, diet trials and education on parasite control.

Chemotherapy and Oncology

Just like in human medicine, chemotherapy in pets is now a commonly used therapy. Treatment of cancer in our companion pets is an emotional and stressful time so we give you the option of a specialist oncology referral and in house chemotherapy treatments eliminating the need for you to take your pet elsewhere to have these treatments.

Radiology and Ultrasound

We offer the latest in digital radiography which allows us to see your pet’s X-ray in better detail and includes other features like magnification and contrast change. Digital images will also be e-mailed to specialists as a free referral.

We have an on site, state-of-the-art ultrasound machine to facilitate abdominal and thoracic imaging.

A Specialist Radiologist and Ultrasonographer visits our practice every week to view and give their opinion on radiographs and ultrasound.

Laboratory and Pathology

Our vets have access to a large number of laboratory aids. Our in-house laboratory can be of assistance if your pet has an emergency or acute illness. Blood counts, serum chemistries, electrolytes, blood gasses, clotting, fecal and urinalyses can all be tested within minutes.

Electrocardiography (ECG/EKG)

Accurately diagnosing electrical disturbances in the heart allows for better management of cardiac cases.

Blood Pressure Testing

An on site Doppler and oscillometric machine allow for accurate blood pressure measurement during anaesthetic, emergencies and management of medical cases.

Surgery

Our surgical suite is equipped with full instrumentation for a range of surgeries including routine de-sexing, soft tissue and orthopaedic.

All patients are monitored using a pulse oximeter to monitor your pet’s oxygen level, an ECG to watch your pet’s heart rate and cardiac rhythm, a blood pressure monitor and a respiratory monitor. In addition to this advanced anaesthetic monitoring, we have trained technicians who are watching your pet closely and constantly checking their respiration, heart rate and hydration level.

If your pet will be undergoing surgery at Mosman Vet please read our information on pre-anaesthetic blood tests and pre-operative instructions.

After Hours Emergency Care

We are open 7 days a week with 24-hour live-in nursing staff to care for our hospitalised patients.

Emergency vet care with your own vets is available until 8pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends, followed by access to North Shore Veterinary Emergency Centre, a specialist 24-hour emergency and intensive care facility.

AQIS Accreditation

Our founders, Dr Chris Mather and Dr Rachele Lowe are Australian Quarantine & Inspection Service certified for the preparation and inspection of companion animals for export. They can undertake rabies vaccinations and laboratory testing for export. They will work with you in the preparation of medication and treatment programs for export as well as completing pre-export certifications.

DERMATOLOGY MONTH AT MOSMAN VET!

Have you noticed your pet getting a bit itchier with the warmer weather? Maybe they're scratching or chewing at their fur a bit more than usual? Have they got a red or pink tinge to their skin? If so, your pet may have atopy. This is an inflammatory reaction by the skin to an allergen, and affects a lot of our furry friends!

If you notice any of the above signs, or are concerned about your pet's skin, head into Mosman Vet to speak with our veterinary team.

To help with the (sometimes complex) treatment of atopy, Mosman Vet are offering a couple of promotions during October and November.

We are offering:

  • FREE Aloven Conditioner when you buy a shampoo from the Aloveen or Natural Shampoo range*
  • FREE Pyohex Conditioner when you buy a shampoo from the Malaseb or Pyohex range.*
  • Buy 4, get 1 free Loyalty Card for Bravecto Chews

Call us on (02) 9960 2856 or book an appointment online if your pet needs to see a vet. Otherwise, head on in to the clinic to take advantage of our offers!
